China Payroll Tax & Employer Cost Calculator

Hiring in China is salary plus five social insurances, housing fund, and tax. This tool estimates the full employer bill and employee take-home from published city rates. Shenzhen is live; more cities unlock when we have cited sources.

Nothing is uploaded. All calculation happens in your browser. Rates ship with the page. Offline still works.

Your inputs stay on this device. Rates are baked into the page at build time. There is no upload endpoint. Disconnect and recalculate if you want to prove it.

Disclaimer: This tool is provided as-is for planning estimates only. It is not tax, legal, or payroll advice. Confirm contribution bases and rates against the latest municipal notices before filing. We do not receive or store your inputs.

How to use

  1. Pick a city that is live (pending cities stay hidden until rates are sourced).
  2. Enter monthly gross salary in CNY and headcount. Optionally set Shenzhen local hukou, housing fund rate (5%-12%), and monthly special additional deductions.
  3. Read the employer SI breakdown, employee SI, PIT estimate, take-home, employer total, and annual cost per person. Use Copy summary to paste into an email or note.

FAQ

Does this upload my numbers?

No. The rate table ships with the page. All math runs in your browser. You can disconnect from the network and get the same result.

Why is only Shenzhen available?

We only publish a city when every contribution line has a cited source URL and a last-verified date. Dongguan, Guangzhou, Foshan, Suzhou, and Shanghai are scaffolded as pending_source until those sources land.

Is the personal income tax exact?

It is an annualized estimate using the national seven-bracket comprehensive income schedule, the CNY 5,000 monthly threshold, employee SI and housing fund as special deductions, and optional special additional deductions. Real withholding uses a cumulative method that can differ month to month.

What about work-injury rate bands?

Shenzhen uses a default mid industry rate of 0.4%. Your actual rate depends on industry risk class. Treat it as a planning default, not a filing figure.

Can I trust Bendibao as a source?

The Shenzhen table cites Bendibao as a secondary aggregator and also points to the Shenzhen HRSS site. Official municipal notices update annually; re-verify before payroll filing.
